Introduced for the 2005 model year, the Automatic transmission equipped DB9 'Volante' convertible was launched as variant of the VH I DB9. These automatic open top sports cars were powered by Aston Martin's AM11 engine. This 5.9L V12 powerplant was initially rated at 450hp, but an update for the 2009 model year saw output rise to 470hp. Drive from the engine was sent to the rear wheels via a 6 speed 'Touchtronic' automatic gearbox (Updated to 'Touchtronic II' for 2009). The VH I Aston Martin DB9 Automatic Volante was built until 2012, when it was replaced by the updated VH II DB9 Automatic Volante.
