The Auburn Eight was introduced in 1925. The Eight was the first eight cylinder car built by Auburn, and soon became its most successful. Auburn offered the Eight in a wide range of body styles, done by in-house and external coachbuilers. A wide range of inline eight engines were used for the Auburn Eight, with size and power increasing as the model evolved. While a variety of Standard Variants were built, the most notable Eight variants were the 851 Speedster, and 852 Speedster, which were the most developed version of the Eight, in the famous Boattail Speedster body style. Production of the Auburn Eight ended in 1936, and the company soon folded after in 1937.
