The second generation Audi A6 was introduced for the 1998 model year. This second generation of A6 was known as the C5, and was offered as a sedan or 'Avant' station wagon. The A6 (C5) was fitted with a range of inline four, V6, and V8 engines, and featured the high performance S6 and RS6 among its most notable variants. The offroad focused Allroad was also part of the C5 Audi A6.  Production of the A6 (C5) ended in 2004, when it was replaced by the Third Generation Audi A6, although C5 Allroad production continued until 2005.
