In 2000, BMW introduced their new roadster, the Z8. Designed to pay homage to the BMW 507, the Z8 featured a classic roadster design created by Henrik Fisker. The Z8 was powered by a 395hp 4.9L V8 engine that was paired with a 6 speed manual transmission, sending drive to the rear wheels. Each car was delivered with a matching metal hard top that was designed to integrate perfectly into the Z8's design. Produced until 2003, the Z8 saw a total of 5,703 examples built. An Alpina version, known as the BMW Alpina Roadster V8 was also built.
