The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Cars are a variant of the 1st Generation Camaro. They were all Dover White RS/SS convertibles, with blazing Hugger Orange stereo stripes on the hood and deck lid, similar to the 1st Gen Z/28, and a matching orange houndstooth deluxe interior with a white top. These Z11 Pace cars also came with front and rear spoilers and the new for 69' “Super Scoop” ZL-2 (cowl) hood. Some dealers installed the Indianpolis 500 decal kit on the doors while many did not. Chevrolet marketing would learn from 1967 Camaro Pace car, and make a larger splash with the 69' pace car with ads and promotional items, which led Chevrolet to produce more of these special cars. The 69' Pace Car still had the option of a 350ci V8, or the big block 396ci, with horsepower ranges mirroring that of the Camaro SS cars. Transmissions options were also similar to the SS with a manual 3 speed, Muncie 4 speed, or the option of a 2 or 3 speed automatic, some of which were column shift.
