A small window of 1996 cars may wear both Z/28 and SS badging but ultimately the Z28 call outs were removed, and SS badges and center caps solely adorned the car. For the 1998 model year the Camaro got a facelift, and better yet the LS1 block was now the standard V8 with 305 Horsepower in the Z28, and with the SS option, performance started at 320 Horsepower. With some more SLP options it was possible to achieve 345 HP for 2002. Production of the 4th Gen Camaro SS ended in 2002, when Chevrolet debuted the Fifth Generation Chevrolet Camaro.
