The Chevrolet Special and Deluxe were introduced for the 1949 model year. Built on the GM 'A' body, the Chevrolet Special and Deluxe were a series of full size cars, available as sedans, coupes, convertibles, and station wagons. The Special was the entry-level variant, while the Deluxe was the upmarket version. Two main body stylings were available: Fleetline, which were sleek two or four door sedans, and Styleline, which were the notchback and estate offerings. This family of cars was initially fitted with a 3.5L inline six engine, but from 1950 onwards, a 3.9L inline six was available as an option. Chevrolet produced the Special and Deluxe until 1952, when it replaced the models with the Chevrolet 150 (Special) and Chevrolet 210 (Deluxe).
