The second generation of Dodge Ram was introduced for the 1994 model year. Model variants include the 1500, 2500, and 3500. The second generation Ram was available in regular, extended (Club), or crew cab body styles, and was offered with a range of V6, V8, and V10 engines including an inline six diesel option. This diesel option was the revered 5.9L Cummins turbo diesel inline six engine. The Cummins engine was only offered for medium duty or larger trucks, and was offered throughout the life of the 2nd Gen Ram. Second Generation Rams fitted with the Cummins engine are also commonly referred to as the 2nd Gen Cummins. Short and long truckbed variants were also available. Production of the 1500 (light duty) Ram ended in 2001, but medium and heavy duty variants (2500 and higher) were built until 2002. Specail variants were also produced such as the SS/T and the Indy Pace Truck. In 2002 the Third Generation Dodge Ram was unveiled.
