The standard, or Base Model of the Duesenberg Model J was introduced in 1929. Although its difficult to call any Model J a Base Model, the cars in this market represent the standard, or regular cars that were produced. As was common at the time, most Model J's were bodied by various coachbuilders, leading to a wide variety of body styles, in both open or enclosed styles. These cars were powered by a 420ci (7.0L) inline eight engine that was paired to a 3 speed manual transmission. Production of the standard Duesenberg Model J lasted until 1937.
