Production of the Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, a model that was derived from Dino 246 GT and both from the Dino 206 GT, started in 1972 (E-Series or third generation). The GTS had a transversely mid-mounted V6 that was updated from 2.0L to 2.4L. The sole difference between the 246 GT and the GTS was the addition of a Targa top which was only produced in roughly 1274 examples out of the over 2000 GTs manufactured. Samples that were factory optioned with Daytona seats and extended fender flares, now known as "Chairs & Flares", typically see premium prices in the market. 1974 saw the end of manufacturing for the 246 GTS, which was replaced by the Dino 308 GT4 the following year.
