Introduced for the 1987 model year, the Ford F-150 was the 1/2 ton variant for the 8th Gen Ford F-Series. The 8th Gen F150 was offered in regular cab and extended cab (SuperCab) pickup body styles, in RWD or 4WD configurations. A fuel-injected 4.9L inline six engine was standard, while 5.0L and 5.8L V8 engines were optional. For 1987, a 4 speed manual was standard, but from 1988 onwards, a 5 speed manual was the standard transmission, with optional automatics available. Three trim levels were offered, the base Custom, mid-range XL, and top of the line XLT Lariat. The 8th Generation Ford F-150 was built until 1991, when it was replaced by the next generation 9th Gen Ford F-150.
