The Second Generation Ford Shelby Mustang debuted for the 2005 model year. The first evolution of this new generation of Shelby Mustang is known as the S-197 I, and was available in coupe and convertible body styles, and featured a wide range of V6 and V8 engines. Offered from 2005 until 2009, the S-197 I saw the return of some of the most famous names in Ford's history, such as the GT500, and the GT500KR. Other variants available for the S-197 I Shelby Mustang included the CS6, CS8, GT-H, GT, GT/SC, Barrett-Jackson GT, GT500, GT500 Super Snake, Terlingua, GT-C, and GT500KR. For the 2010 model year, Ford introduced the updated version of the Second Generation Shelby Mustang, known as the S-197 II Shelby Mustang.
