The Honda Civic Si is a performance-focused variant of the Honda Civic. After a brief absence, the Honda Civic Si was brought back to the U.S. market in 1999. The Si stands for "Sport Injected" and is one of the top variants of the Honda Civic. The Civic Si is a front-engine front-wheel-drive sport-compact car. Honda gave the car a minor exterior makeover to make it more aggressive-looking. The Si treats its driver to a stiffer tuned independent suspension. Under the hood is a dual overhead cam 1.6L inline four-cylinder engine with the VTEC engine management system that generated 160hp and winds up to 8,000 rpm. All power is delivered through a five-speed manual gearbox to the front wheels. The sixth generation of the Si halted production in 2000, and was replaced by the Seventh Generation Civic Si in 2001.
