The SS Jaguar or Jaguar Mark IV was a series of cars produced by the SS Cars Limited company, which would later change its name to Jaguar Cars Limited in 1945. Production for the SS Jaguar began in 1935 and would be halted by WWII in 1939 to resume later in 1945 when the company and the car were renamed. The SS Jaguar became Jaguar Mark IV and was offered as the Jaguar 1½ liter, Jaguar 2½ liter, or Jaguar 3½ liter depending on the engine. This new designation was applied retroactively to differentiate these cars from the later Jaguar Mark V cars. Jaguar Mark IV cars were available as saloons or drophead coupes and were in production until 1949.
