The Lexus SC400 was a variant of the Z30 SC that was introduced for the 1992 model year. The SC 400 was powered by Toyota's 1UZ-FE engine, which was a 4.0L naturally aspirated V8 that had an output of 250hp and 260 lb ft of torque. This engine saw an increase in power to 260hp for the 1997 model year before being fitted with VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing) from 1998. The VVT-i equipped 1UZ-FE saw an output of 290hp and 300 lb ft of torque. Ths SC400 was only ever offered with automatic transmissions sending drive to the rear wheels, with a 4 speed available until 1997, and a 5 speed from 1998 until the end of production in 2000.
