The Mercedes-Benz 280C was a variant of the W114 Coupe that debuted for the 1973 model year. The 280 C was powered by Mercedes' M110.921 engine, which was a 2.8L carbureted inline six. This engine generated 158hp and 159 lb ft of torque that was sent to the rear wheels via manual and automatic transmission options. Production of the W114 Mercedes-Benz 280C lasted until 1976, with a total of 13,151 examples built. The 280C model series would continue life in the next generation Mercedes-Benz E as the W123 Mercedes-Benz 280C.
