The third generation of Oldsmobile 98 was introduced for the 1948 model year. This updated generation of 98 was known as the Futuramic 98 and was offered in a wide variety of body styles including the 'Holiday' hardtop, 'Fiesta' convertible, 'Town Sedan' fastback, as well as other convertible and sedan styles. Starting in 1952, the model became known as the "Ninety-Eight." The third generation 98 was initially powered by a 4.2L inline eight engine, but starting in 1941, Oldsmobile's famous 5.0L Rocket V8 was an option. Production continued until 1953 when the Fourth Generation Oldsmobile 98 was introduced.
