The Packard Custom Eight was introduced in 1928. For the 1928 model year, Packard split their Eight model into the Custom Eight and the Standard Eight, with the Custom model being the more well appointed and luxurious of the two options. This First Generation of Custom Eight was powered by a 6.3L inline eight, and was built until 1932. In 1948, Packard would reintroduce the Custom Eight name for the Second Generation Custom Eight, a new range of cars based on the Packard Clipper that would be built until 1950.
