The first generation of Packard DeLuxe Eight was introduced for the 1929 model year. The DeLuxe Eight was a long wheelbase version of the Packard Custom Eight. This new model was powered by a 6.3L inline eight engine, and was available with a range of open and closed body styles. Production of the Packard DeLuxe Eight ended in 1932, when the model became part of the Packard Eight. The Deluxe Eight name would be used again starting in 1948 as a version of the Packard Clipper.
