The second generation of Pontiac Tempest was introduced for the 1964 model year. The second generation Tempest saw the model move into the midsize category, and was offered in three trim levels: Base, Custom, and LeMans. The second generation Tempest was offered in a range of body styles, and was available with inline six or V8 engines. The second generation Tempest was in production until 1967, and was replaced by the Third Generation Pontiac Tempest.
