The Porsche 911 Carrera S (993 generation), produced between 1996 (1997 model year) and 1998, took the same mechanicals of the standard 993 Carrera and put them in the wide body of the 993 Turbo. With three additional inches of width at the rear and a lowered ride height, the car wore 17” inch alloy wheels compared to the 16” wheels on the standard car. A total of 3,714 were made in both 6-speed manual and Tiptronic (automatic) transmissions. There was no direct succesor to the Carrera S in the 996 generation, although a 996 Carrera 4S was introduced in 2002.
