The Thunderbird model was introduced by Triumph Motorcycles in 1950. It was initially known as the Thunderbird 6T with a 649cc parallel-twin engine that became famous for its reliability and classic style, even appearing in films such as The Wild One. It returned as the TR65 Thunderbird in 1981, still with the same engine. Triumph's modern Hinckley era saw the appearance of the Thunderbird 900 in 1995, the only model to feature an 885cc inline three engine, combining retro aesthetics with contemporary technology. Finally, in 2009, it was reborn as a large cruiser with a 1597cc to 1699cc parallel-twin engine featuring versions such as the Storm, the Commander and the LT. The Triumph Thunderbird was produced until 2016.
