The second generation of Volkswagen Type 2  camper vans was introduced in 1967. Volkswagen kept on the close relation with  Westfalia Werke to modify their T2 Microbus and design them for camping and overnighting. Westfalia, Riviera Camper and many others featured modifications to the interior and exterior in order to create the outdoor focused van consumers were expecting.
