The Porsche 911&nbsp;Carrera 2.7 was introduced in 1974, along with the&nbsp;new <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/74-77-base-model/">base model 911</a> and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/27/">2.7L&nbsp;911S</a>. The model built for all markets&nbsp;except for the United States, known as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/carrera-27/row/">Carrera 2.7 (ROW)</a>,&nbsp;used a 210 hp engine with mechanical fuel injection (MFI)&nbsp;inherited from the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/carrera-rs/">1973 Carrera RS</a>. The North American variant, often referred to as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/carrera-27/us-spec/">Carrera 2.7 CIS (or US-Spec</a>), was powered by the same engine in the contemporaneos&nbsp;<a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/27/">2.7-liter 911S</a> producing 165&nbsp;hp. For markets outside the United States,&nbsp;the Carrera 2.7 evolved into the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/carrera-30">Carrera 3.0</a> for the 1976 model year.
