In late 1966 Porsche introduced a more powerful variant of the 911 called the 911S (S = Super).&nbsp;During it&#39;s production years&nbsp;it received several upgrades, most notably in the form of larger engine displacement. First launched with a <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/20/">2.0 Liter engine</a>, it evolved for <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/20-1969/">1969 with a longer wheelbase</a>,&nbsp;followed by the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/22/">2.2L for model year 1970</a>, a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/24/">2.4L in&nbsp;1972</a>, and finally a <a href="http://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/27/">2.7 Liter engine for model year&nbsp;1974</a>. The 1973 2.4L variant&nbsp;represented the final iteration of the model with non-impact bumpers. Note that many of the samples in these markets have undergone engine modifications. In 1967 Porsche introduced a more powerful variant of the 911 and called it the 911S (S = Super). Distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs alloy wheels, it featured the same 2.0 Liter as the standard model, but it produced 30 more HP for a total of 160 hp. The 911S featured&nbsp;engine Type 901/02 with Weber carburetors.&nbsp;The model was available as either a <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/20/coupe/">911S Coupe</a> or <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/s/20/targa/">911S Targa</a>&nbsp;with a &#39;soft&#39; plastic rear window. Total production numbers are spotty, but they are estimated at 2,306, of which 1,823 were Coupe and 483 were Targa.
