Introduced for model years 1978 to 1983, the Porsche 911SC represented an important evolution from the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/carrera-27/">Carrera 2.7</a> in the form of an aluminum engine.&nbsp;Displacement was increased to&nbsp;3.0-litres, and it featured&nbsp;Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally power output was 180&nbsp;PS (130&nbsp;kW; 180&nbsp;hp), later 191&nbsp;PS (140&nbsp;kW; 188&nbsp;hp) and then in 1981 it was increased to 204&nbsp;PS (150&nbsp;kW; 201&nbsp;hp). &quot;SC&quot; stood for &quot;Super Carrera&quot;. Although the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/sc/coupe/">Coupe</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/sc/targa/">Targa</a> versions existed early on, the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/sc/cabriolet/">Cabriolet</a> version was made available only until 1982 for the 1983 model year. Worth noting that many 911 SC&#39;s&nbsp;have undergone significant body and mechanical modifications. These cars can be found in the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/sc/custom/">911 SC Custom</a> market. The SC was discontinued with the introduction of the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/porsche/911/carrera-32/">Carrera 3.2</a>&nbsp;in 1984.
