The Mercedes-Benz E280 was a variant of the W210 E-Class Sedan that debuted for the 1996 model year. Initially, the E280 was fitted with Mercedes' M104 E28 engine, which was a 190hp 2.8L inline six, but from the 1998 model year onwards, Mercedes used their new M112 E28 unit. This new engine was a 2.8L V6 that had an output of 200hp and 200 lb ft of torque. Cars were fitted with manual or automatic transmissions. Regardless of the gearbox, drive was sent to the rear wheels. An all wheel drive version of the E280 known as the W210 Mercedes-Benz E280 4MATIC was also offered.The W210 Mercedes-Benz E280 was replaced by the next generation W211 Mercedes-Benz E280.
