In 2015, Mercedes-Benz discontinued the use of the CL-Class name for their S-Class based coupes. Coupes based on the S-Class returned to being known as S-Class Coupés, with the first of these reborn cars being the C217. These cars are available with V8 engines, except the S65 AMG which is powered by a V12. The C217 features notable variants such as the S500, S550, S550 4MATIC, S560, S560 4MATIC, S63 AMG, S63 AMG 4MATIC and the S65 AMG. The W222 S-Class Coupe was replaced by the Mercedes-AMG SL - R232 for the 2022 model year.
