Introduced in 1961, the Series III was the third evolution of the Aston Martin DB4 - Base Model. The DB4 Series III was offered in a coupe body style and saw various improvements over the previous Series II, but most changes took place under the skin of the car. These changes included an electric tachomoter, dual hood stays, and improved interior ventilation for the demister. Visually, the only major difference was new tailights, which saw separate indicators on a chromed plate. Although the 240hp 3.7L inline six engine and 4 speed manual transmission were still offered, a triple carburetor became an option on the Series III. Only 165 examples of the Aston Martin DB4 Series III were built before it was replaced by the DB4 Series IV, which was offered as a Series IV Coupe or Series IV Convertible.
