In 1986 Aston Martin renewed their collaboration with Zagato with the Aston Martin V8 Zagato. Based on the Aston Martin V8, the Zagato was produced in limited numbers, with 52 Coupes and 37 Volante Convertibles made. Of the 37 Volantes, 6 were converted to more powerful Vantage Volante specification. These new Zagatos were designed to channel the earlier DB4 GT Zagato, but in a more angular, contemporary fashion. Powered by the now well-established DOHC V8 engine, these were high performance cars, yet with a high level of luxury. In 2014, Aston revived the V8 Zagato name for a run of four customer commissioned cars based on the V12 Vantage.
