The Bentley R-Type was introduced in 1952. This new series of luxury cars were offered as Standard bodied saloons, which featured bodywork by Bentley, but the R-Type was also sold as a rolling chassis for independent coachbuilders to body. The R-Type was fitted with a 4.6L inline six engine. A performance version known as the R-Type Continental was sold as the top of the line variant. The Bentley R-Type was in production until 1955.
