The Buick Gran Sport 455 was a variant of the Buick Gran Sport that debuted for the 1970 model year. The Gran Sport 455, which was also known as the GS 455, was only offered in a coupe or convertible body style, with a 455ci V8 sending power to the rear wheels. In standard configuration, this engine had an output of 350hp, but in Stage 1 trim, output was raised to 360hp (an ultra rare, dealer-installed Stage 2 was also offered). The famed Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission was available, as was a 3 or 4 speed manual gearbox. Production of the Buick Gran Sport 455 ended in 1972, when the Gran Sport nameplate was moved to be a part of the Buick Century.
