The third generation Buick Special was introduced for the 1961 model year. The Special name was reintroduced after a two year hiatus, and was offered as a sedan, coupe, convertible, and station wagon. The third generation Special was powered by a V6 or V8 engine option, and was in production until 1963. The most notable trim level for this generation was the luxury Skylark. The third generation Special was replaced by the Fourth Generation Buick Special.
