The second generation of the Chrysler 300 Non-Letter Series was introduced for the 1965 model year. The second generation of Non-Letter Series was offered as a two or four door hardtop, or two door convertible. The 300 Letter Series was discontinued in 1965, so the Non-Letter Series saw a styling update, was well as the introduction of a new engine option for 1966. Over the course of production, three 'Wedge' engine options were available, 6.3L, 6.8L, and 7.2L. The 7.2L V8 was available in standard or optional "TNT" tuning. Production of the second generation 300 Non-Letter Series ended in 1968, when it was replaced by the Third Generation Chrysler 300 Non-Letter Series.
