The sixth generation of Chrysler New Yorker was introduced for the 1960 model year, and was offered in sedan, two door hardtop, four door hardtop, convertible, and Town & Country station wagon body styles. While all sixth generation New Yorkers were fitted with a 6.8L V8 engine, over the course of production, the unit was improved, giving additional performance. The styling also evolved over production, initially featuring Virgil Exner influences, but later featuring a boxier, more angular appearance. Production of the sixth generation New Yorker continued until 1964, when it was replaced by the Seventh Generation Chrysler New Yorker.
