The Citroën Traction Avant is a series of cars introduced in 1934. 'Traction Avant' means front traction in French, and this new model was a series of front wheel drive cars. The Traction Avant was available in five main variants, the 7A, 7B, 7C 11B, and 15/6. These new models were fitted with inline four (7A, 7B, 7C, 11B) and inline six (15/6). The Traction Avant was offered as a two or four door sedan, five door hatchback, and two door convertible. Some early models were known as the 11CV and 15CV (CV in French refers to taxable horsepower). Right hand drive variants of the Traction Avant that were manufactured in England are known as the 'Big Fifteen' (11B), 'Light Fifteen' (11BL), and 'Big Six' (15/C). Production of the Citroën Traction Avant ended in 1957.
