The fourth generation of Dodge Coronet debuted a new D-501, which replaced the D-500 from the year before as the top Coronet. The D-501 variant received a 354 cu in (5.8 L) Hemi V8. The fourth generation Coronet was offered in sedan and wagon body styles, as well as with a selection of inline six or V8 engines. Dodge ended fourth generation production in 1959, and it wouldn't be until 1965 that the Fifth Generation Dodge Coronet was introduced.
