The 2nd Generation of the Dodge Polara was introduced for the 1962 model year, and it saw the cars become a mid-size models. The 2nd Gen Polara was built in coupe, sedan, wagon, and convertible body styles over the course of its production. Engine options began with a standard 225ci 'Slant Six' I6, with various V8 powerplants available as options, ranging from 318ci to 426ci. The variant Polara 500 was the notable sporty offering for the 2nd Gen. Regardless of specification, both manual and automatic transmissions were available, with drive sent to the rear wheels. Production of the 2nd Gen Polara ended in 1964, when it was replaced by the 3rd Gen Dodge Polara.
