The Fiat Stilo was designed as a small family three door car and had the option of 5 door/hatchback in 2001, and later a 4 door wagon became available in 2003. The Stilo was also introduced to the Brazilian market in 2003. In the U.K. different trim levels were available with modifications provided by British car specialists Prodrive. The Stilo was developed to compete with the VW Golf at the time which led the market in sales. Unfortunately, many people that viewed the Stilo thought it resembled German designs and wasn’t Italian looking enough for buyers. Buyers were also disappointed with gas mileage, as the car was heavy and slightly underpowered. 2007 would be the last the year it was produced in Italy, although production continued in Argentina until 2010. Though there was some success with innovative options such as the push button start ‘Easy go’, and electric power steering, the car was ultimately deemed a sales disappointment.
