The 2nd Generation of the Ford Country Sedan was introduced in 1955. It was a full-size station wagon with a 4-door body and a more modern design. It remained rear-wheel drive and offered 3-speed manual transmissions with an overdrive option, and the Ford-O-Matic automatic. It was available with 272ci and 292ci Y-block V8 engines, as well as a 226ci inline straight six engine. A notable aspect of this generation was its integration within the Fairlane lineup, providing a more upscale appearance while remaining a practical eight-passenger family car thanks to its optional third row. The 2nd Generation Ford Country Sedan was produced until 1956 and was replaced by the 3rd Gen.
