The Ford Escort was a family of compact cars introduced in 1968 by Ford Europe. Over the course of its production, the Escort was available in a wide range of body styles, including sedan, coupe, station wagon, convertible, and hatchback. Six generations of the European Escort were built: Mk I (1967-1975), Mk II (1975-1981), Mk III (1980-1986), Mk IV (1986-1992), Mk V (1991-1997), and Mk VI (1996-2002). Throughout its life, the Escort was used in a wide range of motorsport, resulting in a large variety of Escort Race Cars. The Escort's competitive successes resulted in a range of sporty variants such as the RS1600, Mk I Mexico, and RS Cosworth.
