The 8th Gen F350 was offered in regular cab, extended cab (SuperCab), and Crew Cab pickup body styles, in RWD or 4WD configurations. Depending on configuration, the F350 was available with a 5.8L or 7.5L gasoline V8 engine as standard, with the 7.5L V8 being optional in certain cases. In addition to gasoline engines, a 6.9L or 7.3L diesel V8 were also available as options over the course of production. For 1987, a 4 speed manual was standard, but from 1988 onwards, a 5 speed manual was the standard transmission, with optional automatics available. Three trim levels were offered, the base Custom, mid-range XL, and top of the line XLT Lariat. The 8th Generation Ford F-350 was built until 1991, when it was replaced by the next generation 9th Gen Ford F-350.
