The fourth and final generation of Ford Galaxie debuted for the 1969 model year. The fourth generation Galaxie was available in 'Galaxie 500' and 'XL' trim levels and was offered a two or four door hardtop, four door sedan, or two door convertible. As with previous generations, a standard inline six (3.9L) engine was offered alongside a selection of V8 engines, with the largest being the 7.5L unit. Production of the Ford Galaxie finally ended in 1974, when Ford decided to consolidate the majority of its full-size models under the LTD.
