1969 was the final year the GT Equipment Package was available for the First Generation Ford Mustang. The Mustang GT was offered in Hardtop, Convertible, and Fastback (SportsRoof) body styles, and was powered by a range of V8 engines. This range consisted of the "H-code" (250hp two-barrel 351), the "M-code" (290hp four-barrel 351), the "S-code" (320hp four-barrel 390), and the "R-code" (335hp four-barrel 428). These engines were paired to a 4 speed manual or 3 speed 'Cruise-O-Matic' automatic transmission, both of which sent drive to the rear wheels. 1969 Mustang GT cars were equipped with various improvements such as uprated suspension and steering. Due to Ford's introduction of the Boss 302, Boss 429, and Mach 1 performance variants, demand for the Mustang GT dropped dramatically, with just 5,396 examples sold in 1969. Due to these poor sales, Ford decided to discontinue the GT Equipment Package option after 1969.
