The 2nd Generation of the Ford Taurus was introduced for 1992. It was available as a 4 door sedan and 5 door station wagon, featuring front-wheel drive. Transmission options included a 4 speed automatic, and in the case of the SHO a 5 speed manual was also available. Base engines were the 2.5L inline 4 (GL version only), 3.0L V6, 3.8L V6 and the SHO retained its exclusive 3.0L DOHC Yamaha V6. Notably, the 3.0L was only paired to the 5-speed manual, while a 3.2L version was paired to an automatic transmission. Main versions were the L, GL, LX, and SHO. The 2nd Gen Taurus was produced until 1995 and was replaced by the 3rd Gen Ford Taurus.
