The fifth generation of GMC Suburban was introduced for the 1960 model year. The fifth generation Suburban saw the model gain a boxier look as well as the notable addition of front independent suspension. A wide range of inline six, V6, and V8 engine options were available for the fifth generation Suburban, which was produced until 1966, when it was replaced by the Sixth Generation GMC Suburban.
