Honda introduced the Prelude in 1978. This new series of sports cars were two door coupes that were loosely based on the Honda Accord. The Honda Prelude was built across five generations: First Gen (1978-1982), Second Gen (1982-1987), Third Gen (1987-1991), Fourth Gen (1991-1996), and Fifth Gen (1997-2001). Built until 2001, the Honda Prelude was discontinued when Honda introduced the Honda Integra (Acura Integra in North America).
