The Intermeccanica Italia was a family of sports cars that was introduced in 1967. The Italia was originally launched as the Intermeccanica Torino, but Ford objected to this name as they owned the nameplate. A few examples were sold under the Torino name before the name became the Italia. These rear wheel drive cars were built in coupe and convertible body styles, and fitted with a selection of Ford-sourced V8 engines ranging from 4.7L to 5.7L in displacement. Production of the Intermeccanica Italia ended in 1972 with fewer than an estimated 600 examples built.
