The second-generation Jaguar S-Type came to market in 1999; but it wasn’t until the 2003 model year that the most powerful version was unveiled, the S-Type R. It had a supercharged V8 4.2L naturally aspirated engine capable of 389hp and 400lb/ft paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. This was Jaguar’s answer to the popular BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG. Production of the S-Type R ran up to 2008.
