The third and final evolution of the Second Generation Jensen Interceptor was introduced for the 1972 model year. Known as the Mk III, this updated Interceptor saw subtle updates to the interior and exterior styling, as well as the addition of two new bodystyles alongside the liftback coupe. Both convertible and coupe body styles were offered for the Mk III, but in much fewer numbers (456 convertible, 46 coupe) than the well-established liftback coupe. All Mk III variants were powered by a Chrysler-sourced 7.2L V8 engine running the rear wheels through manual or automatic transmissions. Jensen also released a performance focused version of the Mk III known as the SP, named for its 'Six-Pack' V8 engine. This engine's triple dual-carburetors made it the most powerful car built by the company. Production of the Mk III Interceptor lasted until 1976, with 4,815 total examples built.
